The Quickest Way To Lose Trust In Your Marketing

August 8, 2020

I'll get right to it. The answer to at least one of the ways you'll lose trust in your marketing:

USING GENERIC AND QUICK STOCK PHOTOS.

Here are some of the worst offenders by industry:

Industries with worst stock photo uses.

As a consumer- you see & feel this.

As a BUSINESS OWNER working really hard to market your business, this may be your struggle & frustration.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

1. Source higher quality photos. You spend time sourcing higher quality photos to fill your needs. I'll share suggested sources shortly for free & paid solutions. If you partner with a designer, this is one more magical thing they can help you with and source these for you!

2. Hire a brand photographer. This pays your business back with an entire library of authentic, accurate and appropriate translations of your business to use. These images can be used in so many applications as well. It is truly a gift of stress relief.

I'm going to share a few of my faves, but first I must warn you:

WARNING: ALL SITES WILL STILL HAVE THESE CHEESY OPTIONS SPRINKLED IN, YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR FOCUS TO FIND THOSE THAT STAND OUT IN THE RIGHT WAY.

Here are a couple of sites with free images that offer a great assortment of photography with a far less cheesy feel:

  • UNSPLASH.COM
  • PEXELS.COM

And, here are a couple of sites that offer paid selections you can browse as well:

  • CREATIVEMARKET.COM
  • STOCKSY.COM

Even with these options, your business will come to a place where you will need a brand photography session. You'll grow to want to have a specific style, lighting, outfit, setting, and whatever else you put on your mental list. From there, a brand photoshoot will take shape.

Plan a shoot with a photographer.

This is always my first recommendation with the advice of supporting your brand photography with your highly curated stock photography finds.

HOW?

  • Outline your needs & gather shoot inspo.
  • Write out your prop checklist of all the things you’ll need. Don’t forget to plan for product placements as well.
  • Make a list of shot requests so you know you'll get what you need out of your session.
  • Secure a studio rental space or location of shoot.
  • Find your photographer & if you’re local to WA, I’ll work with you on this along with my photographer to get the photos you need.
